The legendary, hugely influential and long-ago reformed Devo are returning to London to play The Forum on May 6th. However, what makes this first London date in two years special is that they will be performing their classic Eno-produced debut album Q: Are We Not Men A: We Are Devo! in its entirety for the first time. Two days later they take a Greatest Hits set to Minehead Butlins, Somerset. Both gigs form part of the ATP Festival.
The NME announce that Devo are also set to unleash their first studio album since 1990’s Smooth Noodle Maps “next fall”. I can inform NME readers that this means the autumn.
So, I guess this is what you’re gonna hear first up on May 6th. Be prepared for a whole bunch of 40 and 50 somethings going nuts from the first note. Take your teenage kids along too – I imagine they’d bloody love this. What teenager wouldn’t?
In another Pop Junkie two-for-one deal you can take this as the latest classic in my ‘Track One Side One of Your Debut Album’ series. Devo announce themselves to the world with this manic piece of schizo rock.
