Fun With Album Covers – A New Game For All The Family

How much do you reckon this album would fetch on eBay? 50p? £50? £500? Not heard of Ed Modzelewski? Are you kidding me? Folk’s great lost album; the missing link between Dave Crosby and the Incredible String Band; Phil Ochs, Tim Hardin and Tim Buckley all doffed their caps to this guy…yet, today he is forgotten.

Well, if you’re lucky enough to own a copy, then you can name your price. It’s unique. It doesn’t exist. My pal PJ (Tufnell Park’s Mr Dirty Water) sent me the instructions to this fun new game.

Follow these simple rules and you too can be making your own great lost album cover…

1 – Go to Wikipedia. Hit “random”
or click
The first random Wikipedia article you get is the name of your band.

2 – Go to Quotations Page and select “random quotations”
or click
The last four or five words of the very last quote on the page is the title of your first album.

3 – Go to Flickr and click on “explore the last seven days”
or click
Third picture, no matter what it is, will be your album cover.

4 – Use Photoshop or similar to put it all together.

So, this is mine, which I reckon to be the second album from the Danish proggers captured as they dipped their toes into the realms of metal. Released in July 1975 to coincide with their support on Barclay James Harvest’s Time Honoured Ghosts tour, they disappeared after the Oslo date en route to Rotterdam and were never heard of again.

Please send your own gems into Pop Junkie. Have fun!
