One sure-fire way to get mentioned in Pop Junkie is to get Scott Walker involved in your latest project. That few manage to accomplish this makes us all the more keen when someone actually does get to work with the Godlike Genius.
Such a fate has befallen Bighton-based Natasha Khan aka Radiohead-championed Bat For Lashes with Scott duetting on The Big Sleep, the final cut from her forthcoming Two Suns album.
The follow-up to 2007’s Mercury nominated Fur and Gold is released on 7th April and is preceeded by a download single, Daniel, on March 1st. Bat’s people tell me that “Daniel is a song of teenage love and nostalgia, inspired by Natasha’s first crush, where Khan sings of long summer nights, driving through forests at night with her boyfriend and longing for a return to the innocence of adolescence.” Sounds like it might be pretty good, huh? They continue “With layered vocals and twisted synths, it’s an exhilarating pop moment, powered by Yeasayer’s Ira Wolf Tuton who can be heard playing the Fleetwood Mac-style bass lines.” Oh well, the proof will be in the pud.
Below is a short promo to give a little taster of two tracks from the new album.
