Samsung’s new MP3 player, the Q1 Diamond, has a neat little function that’s impressed us here at PopJunkie – it’s compatible with the iPlayer. Basically, you can transfer iPlayer content from your PC onto the Diamond, so you can watch those missed episodes of Never Mind The Buzzcocks or Later…with Jools while you’re out and about.
It also has an FM radio – how retro, daddio – as well as 12 preset ‘street modes’ to deal with noisy environments – handy for drowning out tinny hip-hop coming from kids’ mobile phones on the night bus. Prices are £59.99 (4GB), £79.99 (8GB) and £109.99 (16GB).
Samsung launched the player to the press with an exclusive Get Cape, Wear Cape, Fly gig on the London Eye – he played a few acoustic, sub-Badly Drawn Boy tunes while we supped champagne. He seemed like a nice chap and he even let Samsung load some of his tracks on to the players that were given away to the media.
You could say he was a diamond geezer.
